I'm going to crash out on boss level. (especially the expert one) the nine one kept moving, I can't click it to finish the game! (And it destroys the flags and leaves false numbers) I throw away my mouse because it suddenly got broken and game over. Anyways good game! this game introduced me to minesweeper :)
Actually, the 11 does have 11 juts, it's just very hard to see. The normal 8 juts from the OG mine, and then plus 3 spikes (1 on the top, 2 near the bottom).

Edit: Idea for 19 intro. You click the tile, reveals the 19. It then starts glitching between 9 and 10, then turns into whatever you want it to start at.

As a person who kind of remembers c# (but is more of a scratch/luau/python guy), has a tiny bit of experience with fl studio, and is kind of an artist, i'm kinda thinking of making a simple mod that changes the smiley's textures and possibly changes the boss themes to my remixes (which i havent uploaded anywhere yet, because i'm not sure where to post), it may be coming, it may be scrapped, it's made entirely for fun, so like dont expect much from it lol, here are 3 idle stages 1-2 captain smiley sprites. I've been mostly inspired by the japan-only minesweeper that was released for gameboy.

yeah I got the same message, I scanned the file in VirusTotal and I think I just got a false positive for a virus or something, the game looks like it comes from an offical website so I am gonna download it anyways, it shouldn't be anything to worry about

(And fyi, I did not touch the other 10 bossfight, because I wanted to make 18's 2nd phase feel more special and not like... 18 and 10 at once, even if that's literally what it is)
theres even reasoning behind this, 9 did the goofy fucking "run across the top bar where the smiley conveniently is" TWICE (if we're counting 10's second phase), shocked(?) twice (18's first and second phase), and exploded (transition from 18 to devil's convergence), i think i would be dead if that happened to me and probably same with the smiley unless plot armor is just that good
gotta love how it turns into a guessing game at the 2nd 9th bossfight because we just cant make a game in the big 25 almost 26💘💘 OH BOY, THE 10 IS COMPLETELY SAME SHIT!!
if you're going for a S/M rank then yeah i kinda get it but you still can make mistakes you won't die instantly unless you run out of time/click on the boss with safe spots still unrevealed
I made 2 mistakes first time I beat expert ep.1 normal (both on Dead Sea) and I still got an M rank. Seems like Expert is much more generous in terms of ranking.
my human in Christ there is no 9th boss fight. There's only 9 and 10 and neither turn the game into a guessing game unless you set the mine count really high and enable master mode.

very fun game with amazing soundtrack. Only problem i have is that the game doesnt really save. its getting annoying since i have to play through the whole first episode just to unlock the boss for freeplay.
yeah no, I don’t wanna beat the first episode just to get access to the boss every time I load the game. It gets kinda repetitive. It would be nice if a working save feature was added so I didn’t have to beat the first episode every single time.
It saves for me... maybe try redownloading? The game should automatically make a save file in the same folder the executable file is in. Did you run the executable through the zip file or did you unzip it?
Hi! I made an account just to post a comment on this game because I love it so much. This is easily one of my favorite games of all time right now and I cannot commend you enough for everything about it. The visual style, music, gameplay progression, boss fights, unique map layouts, and everything else about it make this game an absolute delight to play. I love how the first episode's levels have mine marker numbers that increase with the levels (as in each map introduces the player to a new number of mines around a tile), it's such an amazing way to have actual game progression in a game as simple as minesweeper. I love the radar tool so much, I think it's such a good addition to minesweeper as a whole because random chance mines are genuinely unfair! Captain Sweeper is my favorite thing ever he is so cute and wonderful. I would like to take his hand in marriage, but I'm already committed to my partners, and something tells me he's already in a hate-filled marriage with the sea.
Anyways, I just wanted to say all this to really drive home to both the creator and anyone skimming the comments, this game is something absolutely special. 10/10. I cannot wait for more episodes. Is there a Patreon or somewhere like that where we can support you?
I see you take suggestions. Could you add tap to flag and hold to open for mobile? I got used to playing with those controls and keep losing because i keep mixing them up. Overall great game i liked it 👍

Well, I do have a "script" for 19's intro:
"*tile spawns 9
*tile switches to 10 while under 9
*9 moves from over the tile to reveal the '10'
*tile spawns 10
*10 does its beeping thing and then batters the captain (like in 10's intro)
*9 does its lunge across the top bar (like in 9's intro and the entrance to 10's second phase)
*they both go off-screen before coming back
*they orbit around each other before fusing into 19"

18 doesn't really care about flags
(here are the specifics of what 18 counts as movement (aka what makes it explode):
1. clearing more than 2 tiles
2. moving your cursor over 12 pixels away
when its timer reaches zero, it'll immediately go into its exploding animation)

Beating the episodes to unlock the bosses in free play is the whole point if you want to play them in FP.

theres a quicksave feature but if you REALLY dont wanna redo all of episode 1 hold a really evil number for a long time

You only get -1 mines if you flagged incorrectly... That's user error, not the game's fault

Well, actually the controls are reversed for mobile. It's hold to flag and tap to open.
